Occupational License
Bell County Criminal Defense Lawyer
If you have been arrested and your license has been suspended or revoked, then you may find it extremely difficult to get to work, or accomplish your everyday tasks. Public transportation is sometimes an option; however you are bound by their schedule in most cases. One option that may be available to you is an occupational license. This is a temporary driver's license that can be applied for in order to get to work, accomplish daily tasks, or for educational purposes.
You must make a request for this license to the country or district court in the county of your residence. If granted, then the court will issue you a court order to obtain an occupational license, this order may be used as a license for 30 days while your request is being processed by the Texas Department of Public Safety. In order to obtain the occupational license, you will need to send a certified copy of the petition and court order, original Form SR-22 certificate of insurance, occupational license fee, and reinstatement fees to the Texas DPS.
